Jerry Parker
Chairman & CEO, Chesapeake Capital Corporation
Jerry Parker, a Portfolio Manager, is a pioneer in systematic investing with over 35 years of experience in the industry. He received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Virginia in January 1980.
His journey began in 1983 when he was selected to participate as an exempt commodity trading advisor in the now legendary Turtle Trading experiment, led by renowned commodity traders Richard Dennis and Bill Eckhardt.
Trained directly by Dennis, Parker adopted a disciplined trend following methodology rooted in diversification, risk management, and rule-based decision-making. These core principles remain at the heart of his investment philosophy to this day.
In February 1988, Parker founded Chesapeake Capital Corporation to bring the proven Turtle strategies to a broader base of investors. Under his leadership, Chesapeake has become an innovative provider of systematic trend following investment solutions.
Throughout his career, Parker has remained a steadfast advocate for systematic trend following. His consistent, long-term approach has helped shape Chesapeake into one of the most diversified CTAs, known especially for its inclusion of single stocks in its trend-following programs, an uncommon practice among peers.
Jerry Parker continues to lead Chesapeake Capital as Chairman and CEO, carrying forward the timeless lessons of the Turtle Traders into the modern investment landscape.
